POSITION SUMMARY:
As an integral member of our Aquatics Team, the Family Barn Swim Instructor helps deliver exceptional experience for our Members on the pool deck, by assessing students' progress and adjusting teaching programs accordingly. Monitoring students to prevent accidents and injuries. Implementing ground rules for each swim session. Planning swimming lessons that consider students' abilities and progressive development. The Family Barn Swim Instructor serves as a gracious, welcoming Pool Deck host, and works inter-departmentally with our Pool Attendant and Life Guard teams to provide an inspiring oasis where Members can enjoy the summer sun.

PAY RANGE: $16.50-$20.00 per hour + lesson commission.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pool Deck Hospitality & Operations
- Warmly greets all Members who enter swim instruction class, anticipates their needs, and is always looking for ways to exceed expectation.
- Required 18 years or older
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, weekdays
- Effective listening, interpersonal, and guest service skills
- Bilingual preferred (English / Spanish)
- Ability to work with little supervision
- Must have a genuine passion for working with children
- Must maintain a positive, professional attitude in all interactions with children, parents, families, and staff members
- Always maintain a safe working environment and deck safety.
- Obtain and expand your knowledge of all swim levels.
- Provide first aid if/as needed.
- Available to work weekends/holidays
- Teach all classes/groups assigned and prepare equipment as needed
- CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- Instruct children, ages 6 months and up, on basic water safety skills and how to swim, using the WSI curriculum.
- Set up and put away any equipment necessary.
- Communicate with the Aquatics Manager and parents on the progress of each student weekly.
- Assist in the Preparation of the Pool Deck for service each day
- Provide support to pool attendants as needed
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND LICENSES:
- Minimum 1 years of hospitality or customer service experience in high-end hotels, resorts, or private clubs
- Competitive Swim: 1 year (Preferred)
- Swim Instructor: 1 year (Preferred)
- Lifeguard Certification
- CPR / First Aid / AED Certification
- Must obtain WSI
- Pre-employment background screen for anyone providing swimming lessons
- Ability to safely retrieve someone from the swimming pool (child or adult)
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk and stand up to 3 hours at a time
- Ability to safely bend, kneel, twist, grip, and carry as part of the above duties
- Ability to lift items (dumbbells up to 25 lbs., patio furniture up to 50 lbs.)
- Ability to work outside for several hours during a shift
- Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc
- Ability to work evenings, holidays, and weekends. Saturday and Sunday work is typically required during the summer and winter operating seasons. Exposure to outside inclement weather conditions, including summer sun
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, kneeling, bending, twisting, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, sitting, carrying, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping
PAY RANGE: $16.50-$20.00 per hour + lesson commission.
