Beach Shack Attendant (Summer 2025)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Beach Shack Attendant is a critical point of contact to assist in servicing the needs of the membership at the Beach Shack. Duties associated with this position include meeting and greeting members and guests; communicating effectively with co-workers; maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe work environment, and assisting in other areas of the club as needed. The Beach Shack Attendant will also seek opportunities to create memories by anticipating needs, exceeding expectations, and building relationships.
We have both part-time and full-time seasonal positions (late May to late September) and the work schedule includes weekends and holidays. The operating hours vary but could be from 8am-7pm, shift length normally 8 hours.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a superior service attitude and presentation, understanding that positive interactions, a “can do” attitude, and the anticipation of needs is our guiding philosophy in providing “the member experience.”
- Greet all Members, Extended Family & their Guests attending to and anticipating their needs.
- Participate in lawn/beach set up and break down at either end of the day, including but not limited to chaise lounge chairs/Cabanas, tables, towels, and cushions.
- Make ready, put away at the respective end of the day, and maintain throughout the day all Kayaks, SUP’s, Kids Beach Toys, Lawn Games and all equipment necessary to use said toys.
- Maintain a list of the number Kayaks/SUP’s that are taken out throughout the day with Name; Time in/Out and a signed Waiver for each family
- Be informed about and promote all club activities and services.
- Keep “the member experience” in mind when making all decisions.
- Be part of a Team environment that crosses a multitude of hospitality disciplines
- Take part in keeping the Beach Shack clean and litter free. Cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility, not just housekeeping.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Martis Camp standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary by day of the week at certain times through the early and late summer seasons.
- Comply with all Martis Camp standards and regulations to encourage and ensure a safe and efficient Beach Shack operation.
- Assist your Food & Beverage colleagues where their needs and your time permits, in the delivery and cleanup of service.
- Walk the beach every 15 minutes and check in with all Members, Extended Family &Guests.
- Run beachgoers to/from their boats in a Dinghy w/outboard motor after adequate training.
- Ability to communicate effectively and take a commanding presence to ensure the safety of all beachgoers
- Perform other duties as required by your manager.
REQUIREMENTS: (with or without accommodations)
- Ability to stand for up to 5 hours at a time
- Ability to safely lift and carry or assist with member bags and sporting equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds over varying surfaces (asphalt, sand, indoor flooring) for up to 200 yards at a time.
- Ability to assist the membership in the transport of SUP’s, Kayaks, Floating Docks and other watercraft and toys that may be purchased or come with Members I.e., E-Foils.
- Ability to grip, reach, push, and pull during lawn/beach set up and break down involving chaises, tables, cushions, and umbrellas.
- Ability to kneel and reach while adjusting lawn/beach equipment and umbrellas.
- Willingness to learn how to transport and use all watercraft safely and correctly.
- Ability to work evenings, holidays, and weekends. Exposure to outside inclement weather conditions including summer sun.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50lbs, and to assist adults and small children on and off the boat Dinghy
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, kneeling, bending, twisting, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, sitting, carrying, walking, pushing, pulling and lifting
- Ability to swim
- Ability to communicate effectively and take a commanding presence to ensure the safety of all beachgoers
- Ability to work evenings, holidays, and weekends. Exposure to outside inclement weather conditions including summer sun.
WAGE RANGE: $20-$22 per hour
