As our Recreation Manager, your days will be a dynamic blend of strategic oversight and hands-on leadership, all designed to elevate the member experience. Here’s how you’ll make your mark:
- Be a Visionary Team Builder: You'll recruit, train, and inspire a team of exceptional Recreation Ambassadors, guiding them to understand that their role is to create magic, not just manage activities.
- Lead with Purpose: Oversee the daily operations of our Family Barn Recreation team, ensuring every detail contributes to an unparalleled member journey.
- Champion Exceptional Service: Instill a culture where genuine hospitality and impeccable service standards are not just met, but exceeded, at every turn.
- Curate Engaging Programs: From high-energy kickball games and challenging mountain bike excursions to tranquil aquatic classes and exhilarating winter sports like skiing and sledding, you'll lead and execute a diverse calendar of programs that captivate and delight.
- Ensure Operational Brilliance: Meticulously maintain all recreation equipment and facilities, upholding the highest standards of safety and presentation. This includes overseeing winter gear rentals and our thrilling tubing hill.
- Safeguard Aquatic Excellence: Manage our lifeguards and aquatic programs, ensuring strict adherence to American Red Cross standards, because safety is always paramount.
- Collaborate and Connect: Work seamlessly with the Youth Activities Manager and Folk School Manager, as well as all other departments, to ensure a cohesive and enriching experience across Martis Camp.
- Be a Communications Maestro: Serve as the primary point of contact for member inquiries and vendor relations, ensuring clear, timely, and delightful communication.
- Empower and Elevate: Foster an environment where your team feels empowered to take ownership of the member experience, always striving for that extra touch that transforms a good moment into a great one.
- Strategize for Success: Assist the Director in crafting comprehensive activity calendars, developing robust training plans for your team, establishing efficient standard operating procedures, and contributing to annual budget management.
- Be Present and Adaptable: Your commitment will require a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, mornings, and holidays, because the joy never stops at Martis Camp.
Knowledge and Skills Qualifications:
- Strong management skills in team building, training, and customer service.
- Ability to develop positive relationships within the organization.
- A team builder with coaching and motivational skills.
- Charismatic with a sense of humor and style suitable for a friendly, fun environment.
- Ability to adapt to new and changing software programs, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- High ethical and moral standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Goal-oriented and able to achieve objectives consistently.
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management or related field preferred.
- Minimum of four years of management experience in a high-end resort, private club, or youth-oriented recreation operation.
- Current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate AND Lifeguard Certification.
- Able to attain a Lifeguard Teaching Certification within 1 year of hire.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, kneeling, bending, twisting, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, sitting, carrying, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
Wage Range: $68,500-$75,000 annually DOE
